Overview
Camino utilizes Slack to send messages and reminders to members of your team, including new hires. In order to install Camino to Slack, you must have a Camino Account. If you have an account already, log in to Camino and go to the "Integrations" sidebar, where you will find the button to add Camino to your Slack workspace.
How does the integration work?
Camino enables your People Team to create templated onboarding journeys for new hires, within which you can pre-build chat messages, assign tasks, and automate other onboarding-specific work. After assigning these templates to new hires, you can expect:
Automated Messages: New hires receive automated welcome messages and important information directly in Slack.
Task Notifications: HR teams, managers, and buddies get notified of upcoming tasks and deadlines, ensuring nothing is missed.
Task Completion: Stakeholders can select buddies, input onboarding plans, and do other important tasks within Slack.

Messages from real people
Onboarding messages arrive as Slack DMs from the actual manager, buddy, or People team contact — not a bot. Each user authorizes once, and Camino sends on their behalf automatically.
Interactive task completion
Assign buddies, create email accounts, set up onboarding plans, and send personalized messages — all through Slack modals. No portal required.
AI assistant — @Camino
Ask questions, complete tasks, assign buddies, or check on progress by mentioning @Camino. Powered by Claude, with conversation context. Also available via MCP for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT.
Onboarding channels
A private channel is auto-created for each new hire's support team. Daily digests surface overdue tasks, upcoming meetings, and open issues.
Home tab dashboard
Every onboarding task organized by new hire — with status, due dates, and action buttons — visible in the Camino home tab in Slack.
Nudges and celebrations
Milestone digests, overdue alerts, and journey-stuck warnings keep things moving. Birthday and anniversary celebrations with a compose modal for personal messages.
Not Slack-only
Camino is Slack-native, not Slack-exclusive. New hires, managers, and People teams each get dedicated web portals. Onboarding also works through email. Everyone gets the experience that fits how they work.
